Lots of things accomplished...none of which were on the list

This has been happening a good bit in 2011. I have a list of things I set out to do ....I get sooooo much done and am so proud of myself, until I go to check items off my list and low and behold:
all of these things I accomplished? no where to be found on the list.

This week I set out to clean my house, finish the appliques for my Hugs'n'Kisses quilt, reorganize my closet ( something I knew was more than one weeks task), finish my blocks for the first week of Blockapalooza, exercise everyday, and finish my Valentine's gifts.

What I actually accomplished?
I cleaned my house ( minus my art room), got a great start on the closet ( so far so good right?...ha!), went to the same grocery store twice because the first time I got so distracted with sales and got in a hurry that I completely left like 7 things off the list! Worked out like 2 days...Helped my soon to be sister in law pick out her wedding dress ( that was fun)! and finished one block (out of two) for the Blockapalooza....what's missing? a whole lotta sewing and a whole lotta blogging, and a good bit of working out!

Forget New Year's Resolutions....I gotta a New Week Resolution: get more than half of the things on my list crossed off! And I don't mean half of a task ...I mean half of the list. Maybe I should shoot for most of the list , but I'm just gonna start with baby steps. I'll let you know how that works out for me, lol!

So as for the one thing I actually got to sew? Here is my first block:

Hopefully in less than 24 hours I will be posting the second block and maybe a Valentine's gift or two?

Blockapalooza!!!!!

Today is the start of  Quilt Dad's Bloggers' Block-a-palooza Quilt Along!!!

There will be two blocks a week, one on Mondays and one on Thursdays.  They will be using Sunkissed by Sweetwater for Moda, as will I. My pictures will on be on Flickr and I'm sure a few of them will sneak onto here once or twice!

So today was full of fun for me! Not only did the Block-a-palooza start, but I also received some Kona solids in the mail that I won in a giveaway from Marmalade Fabrics on A Stitch in Dye's blog! ( I highly suggest wandering over to both of these websites as they are full of creativity and eye candy!)

And before that I stopped by a small shop here in Greenville to pick up a small piece of coordinating fabric for my Valentine's projects and stumbled on the cutest Valentine fabric! ( I have no idea how to rotate this...Sorry!)

Hope your Monday was filled with inspiration!

What a Weekend...

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend jam-packed with projects and inspiration! As for me I continued to work on my Valentine's quilt. It is a pattern by Piece N Quilt, I love her designs and many of them (including this one) at Moda Bake Shop. It is called Hugs & Kisses.
This picture was taken before I got to play this weekend. I have added the white blocks that go in the empty spaces you see and added the words. The tutorial told me to print the words for an outline for the  applique but since our printer has seen better days, I just decided to draw it out in my sketch book. It took quite a long time to do it this way but I am so happy with the product! Now I just have to put the hearts on and piece it together then it will get in line to be quilted!

I took Saturday off to go to Charlotte and take my soon to be sister-in-law wedding dress shopping! We had so much fun, but to no avail. Another trip will commence soon back here in Greenville back where we have some she keeps going back to. In the meantime though we picked out the bridesmaid dresses and I am so excited to wear it!

It will be so elegant in the church and at The High Museum of Art for the reception!

Now speaking of wedding...
As you may have seen in the about me area my husband and I were married this past year and were so lucky to have the most amazing photographers! Visio Photography went above and beyond and the pictures were such an amazing way to relive our day! They just redid their website and Adam and I's pictures were featured a few times on there as well as our slideshow! If you get a chance you should head over to their website to check out their work! They really are true artist! This is their flyer for the new site:
That's me in the picture:) Make sure to take some time to admire their work!

Well, I hope everyone has a Happy Monday!

A Work in Progress

It has been a while since I posted. To be honest, the blank page scares me. I have been busy at work on so many projects and always want to share them and just think 'well, maybe I'll wait till its further along'. Well my New- New Year's Resolution will be to find my blogging voice. So, tomorrow I will be snapping some pictures of all the things I am working on and have been doing in my sewing room- I have been quite the busy bee.  I also have been working on a pattern and hope it won't be too far off before I can share that with you too! Please bear with me as I work on posting more often and finding my style, as I am a blogging work in progress!
